NOTICE OF PROPOSED TARIFF CHANGES

by | May 5, 2025 | News

On April 16, 2025, the Town of Hardwick Electric Department filed revised tariffs with the Vermont Public Utility Commission (PUC) for an increase in its retail rates of 13.24%. The overall increase in costs for the Electric Department is due largely to increases in the power supply and operating & maintenance cost categories of the cost of supplying and distributing energy to the consumer. The proposed retail rate schedule is to be effective on a service rendered basis beginning June 1, 2025.

Pursuant to 30 V.S.A. § 225, the Department of Public Service (PSD) will file its recommendation to accept or oppose the proposed increase by Friday, May 16, 2025.

Details of the tariff filing, testimony, and supplemental documentation can be found via ePUC under Case No. 25-0729-TF – Town of Hardwick Electric/tariff for 13.24% rate increase.

Last Friday, March 27th, our office was closed for half of the day so our staff could participate in a training regarding the AMI metering we are gearing up to adopt into our system later on this year. AMI is a system that allows utilities and customers to exchange energy and usage data in real time. Manual meters that have to be read physically will be replaced with AMI meters where data is transmitted back and forth between platforms. What does this mean for you as an HED customer? - Real time usage data - Ability to know exactly when your power is out and restored - No one having to come out to your property monthly and/or seasonally to read meters Stay tuned for more information as HED prepares to kick off AMI! ...
