Lineperson – Journeyman or Apprentice (Union Position)

Hardwick Electric Department (HED) is seeking an experienced 1st Class Journeyman or Apprentice Lineperson to join our 6-person Electric Operations crew. The team maintains and improves 325 miles of overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines, providing safe and reliable electric service to 4,350 customers. Rate of pay is $58.25 for Journeyman and ranges from $33.21 to 51.63 for apprentice, depending upon experience and training of apprentice.

Responsibilities:

  • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground lines.
  • Work safely within established industry practices.
  • Climb poles; use hand tools (chainsaws, shovels, etc.); handle ropes and knots; dig holes.
  • Assist with tree trimming and work in all weather conditions for extended hours.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond within 30 minutes.
  • Perform or learn to work on energized 15 kV lines.
  • Apprentices must attend the Vermont state apprenticeship program.

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet physical demands and pass a physical and drug test.
  • Professional, courteous, safety-focused work ethic.
  • Ability to obtain a Vermont Class A CDL within one year.
  • Must join the IBEW union after six months of employment.
